Environment Roving Champion

Alona Armstrong

Alona is a Senior Lecturer in Energy and Environmental Science, based within Lancaster Environment Centre, and Deputy Director of Energy Lancaster. She currently holds a Natural Environment Research Council Industrial Innovation Fellowship. Alona’s research and innovation activities focus on developing understanding of the interactions between energy infrastructure and the environment. She then uses this understanding to inform policy and practice, with the underpinning aim of promoting the delivery of environmental benefits, beyond that of low carbon energy, from the low carbon energy transition. Working collaboratively with stakeholders from across sectors is central to her work. As EnergyREV’s Environment Rover, Alona worked to ensure that the environmental impacts beyond that of greenhouse gas emissions of local low carbon energy systems are considered and the importance of location specific factors recognised.
