George Konstantopoulos is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Patras, Greece and a Visiting Advanced Fellow at the University of Sheffield. Prior to this, he has been a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering, University of Sheffield, and an EPSRC UKRI Innovation Fellow in the priority area of cheap and clean energy technologies. His research interests include nonlinear modelling, advanced control design and stability analysis of micro-grids and smart grids. His team has developed novel control techniques for the smart grid integration of distributed energy resources, which have been implemented in UK industrial micro-grid sites. George was involved in the WP1.1 Cyber-Physical Advances in Smart Local Energy Systems and contributed to the novel research development and evaluation of existing and future energy demonstrators in the areas of control, autonomous operation, optimisation and decision-making in order to put the ‘smart’ into local energy systems.
