Camilla Thomson is a Chancellor’s Fellow in Energy and Chair of the Molly Fergusson Initiative in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. She has a general interest in evaluation of energy projects, with a particular focus on better understanding the environmental consequences of developments. An electrical and mechanical engineer, Camilla’s PhD was on the carbon and energy payback of variable renewable generation. Her expertise includes carbon footprinting, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), marginal carbon analysis of power networks and renewable resource assessment. She built upon this evaluation experience to help develop an EnergyREV multi-criteria assessment tool for Smart Local Energy Systems. In 2020 Camilla was named as one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering: Sustainability.
